How to Care for your Vellies

Your Jakkals Vellies are made to last, but like all quality leather footwear, they need the right care. With a few simple steps you can protect the leather, extend its lifespan, and keep your Vellies looking and feeling their best for years to come.

Care Instructions

We know that Seal leather is supposed to handle water well. It does to a certain extent and then water and everyday wear remove the original oil from the leather. This is when the tiny fibers dry out and they become hard and shorten the life of the leather.

Polish your Vellies regularly

Clean the dust off your Vellies with a damp cloth. Do not use an old engine-oil rag.

Apply a thin layer of our deep-penetrating leather Renapur Balsam, or any product that describes itself as “Leather Balsam” for footwear.

Avoid standing in oil, diesel, petrol, or solvents – rubber is sensitive to all of these.

Do not sit with your Jakkals Vellies against the fire. You will damage the specially designed cement that bonds your sole to your Vellies.
